Media Statement: Response to Transport Select Committee Scrutiny of the draft Heathrow Expansion National Policy Statement on 9 September

Heathrow Reimagined: A Better Hub for Britain responds to the Transport Select Committee Oral evidence session in the inquiry into the Heathrow Expansion National Policy Statement 

A spokesperson for the Heathrow Reimagined campaign, said:

“Heathrow is already the most expensive airport in the world before the costs of expansion are passed on to airlines and passengers. 

The CAA has concluded that the regulatory framework for Heathrow must be capable of accommodating direct competition and improve capital efficiency. The CAA rightly recognises that the current model is not sufficient for the scale and complexity of expansion. 

Expansion must be delivered with value for money at its heart, leveraging competition between promoters, to secure the benefits for passengers and the wider UK economy. 

What matters now is fundamental reform that genuinely protects consumers from excessive costs and ensures competition drives better outcomes.”
