Heathrow Reimagined: A Better Hub for Britain responds to the comments made by Mike Kane, Parliamentary Under-Secretary (Department for Transport) to the Evening Standard 

A spokesperson for the Heathrow Reimagined campaign, said:

“Heathrow Reimagined was borne out of spiralling costs at the airport, which are being shouldered by customers and airlines. We are seeking a model at Heathrow that delivers high quality infrastructure. 

The proposed costs of expansion appear to follow that same pattern of high cost without world leading standards and levels of resilience. The campaign welcomes competition and alternative proposals designed to increase capacity at the airport more efficiently.

We are calling for an urgent and fundamental review by the CAA, to more effectively control Heathrow’s capital expenditure programme and deliver competition that improves the efficiency and quality of the UK’s only hub airport. That applies to the airport in its current layout as well as proposed expansions.”
